Is There Still A Market For Non-ITIL Compatible Tools?

Laurie Dolan, ask this question in her latest post over at Pink Elephant:

Let the Clone War Begin:

I don't often take time to respond to blogs, BUT, this one hits close to home.

For the love of everything holy, I PRAY there is a world for NON-Compat tools!

I have been around long enough to have watched darn good software, become assimilated into this "borg ITIL" collective.

There is nothing really differentiating software anymore.

We lost the "Service" in Service Desk, the minute we tried to figure out urgency and impact.

I believe ITIL, just as COBIT, and many other frameworks have a place in our lives.

I just do not believe ITIL has done anything for IT Software but make every software vendor's product a "white chevy"
