Yo Chris! Welcome back! Sauce on the burger!

There's nothing wrong with not caring about ROI when it is YOUR money buying YOUR sports-car. There is everything wrong with spending your employer's money or customer's money for emotional reasons. It's ALL about value returned on investment when it is somebody else's money

BTW on the topic of sportscars "If you have a process problem there is not a technology solution. If you are paunchy and aging, buying a red sports car does not fix the problem (though you may feel better about it)." http://www.itskeptic.org/people-practices-things

Great podcast, guys, and thanks for the reference to my blog. However, I think Chris got confused when he referenced an alleged tweet of mine about ROI: not only haven't I tweeted on ROI in at least the last month, my stance is that ROI is WAY overused/overrated, the opposite of what Chris indicated the tweeter was saying. I even wrote a post on this (a two-part series) called, "Financial metrics for IT: the holy grail of ROI, and how it misses the point". Find it at

Keep up the good work on the podcast. I'll be back to hear more!
